David Bell, M.D.

bicher-oncology-staff-doctors-photo-session-2015-15As the Assistant Medical Director of Radiation Oncology at Bicher Cancer Institute, Dr. Bell uses his vast experience and knowledge in the field of radiation oncology to help treat a broad range of cancer patients with hyperthermia and low dose radiation (IMRT). Dr. Bell has a well rounded professional and academic background, which allows him to offer our patients at Bicher Cancer Institute multidimensional, comprehensive treatment and care.

Dr. Bell is board certified in Therapeutic Radiation by the American Board of Radiology, and graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. He received a BS in Mathematics from City College of New York in New York City, followed by a PhD in Mathematics from Brown University in Rhode Island.

Experience and Research

Dr. Bell completed a medical internship at Tulane University, followed by a residency in Radiation Oncology at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston under Dr. Gilbert Fletcher. Dr. Bell was also a resident in OB-GYN/Anesthesia at Charity Hospital in New Orleans.

In addition to his work at Bicher Cancer Institute, Dr. Bell takes an active interest in research and development in the field of radiation oncology, with a special interest in nanoparticles for targeted radiation therapy, chemotherapy, thermotherapy and immunotherapy. In addition to research into various methods of application of radiation for cancer treatment, Dr. Bell has previous research experience with cancers of the eyelids, and LQ Modeling of continuous Beams: Applications to Implants.

During his tenure at St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, CA, Dr. Bell helped to oversee the IMRT irradiation program, which treated an average of 50 patients daily. Earlier in his career, Dr. Bell served as an assistant professor at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, NY.

Dr. Bell is an esteemed member of the PHI BETA KAPPA honor society. Dr. Bell is also a member of several professional organizations, including:

American Society of Clinical Oncology
Southern California Radiation Oncology Society
